goober doobers!

Well Just a quick update... kempton is 9 months old already! as of last week i have totally stopped nursing, and he's been on formula for almost 4 weeks since my surgery. he's had a rough 4 weeks though. the weekend before my surger he started having horrible diahrea and it continued until yesterday! he lost a bit of weight and we cut his diet to just mom's milk in the morning, formula, bananas and cereal. finally yesterday he's back to his normal pooping self! hoorah! and holding steady at 17 lbs and a couple of ounces, somewhere around 27 or 28", i can't remember. STILL NO TEETH! which is what we thought the problem was in the begining... uhm, what else... not walking by himself yet, but getting close to standing by himself. crawels like the dickens, loves peekaboo, and "i'm gonna getchya!" and absolutely LOVES sb and tj, and saucisse will catch his attention pretty good too! climbs anything and everything.
...
so that's about it in a nutshell i think!

Look What I Can Do!

Hey look What I Did! i'm still a little shocked it turned out ok! I actually bad this for my sister-in-law who is having a little girl, Holley, in a few weeks. so shhhh, it's a suprise! now i just need to find a box big enough to ship it in!

AND on a lighter note! Why mormons can't send flowers!

SSS part 2

This is along with my previous post to help clarify a few things.

OK, Some Serious Stuff

I've wanted to say a few things for quite a while, but was unsure of how to do it without giving offense. after a lot of thought and prayer this is what i think i want to say. And now especially with the passing of prop 8 in CA, and similar passings in az and fl. I want to preface this by saying i in no way claim to understand what goes on in the minds of any person in love, i only know my own thoughts and feelings, and i know i am somewhat ignorant/unknowledgeable of some of the specifics of the proposition, but i DID look quite extensivley at it. I personally have known several people who are bisexual or homosexual. Some of them are VERY close friends AND family. I feel nothing but love and respect for them as people. I do disagree with their choices to act in that way, but that DOES NOT affect my love for them. I do not agree in taking away peoples' personal choices, but at the same time i would like to explain why i do not support such propositions. In Massachusetts (and now connecticut) gay marraige is legal. the effects of this is now taking away the choices of parents in how they want to teach and raise their children. I remember in elementary school we had to get a permission slip signed to go the facts of life classes, but one father was arrested after a long afternoon meeting with the school's teachers/principal for simply wanting to be notified of the diversification material being taught to his children. Now, call me crazy, but what about their right's to teach their own children???? And what about the preachers and pastors who are being accused of bigotry for teaching heterosexuality and denouncing homosexuality in church??? has anyone ever actually READ the bible? does soddom and gamora (i know spelling...) ring a bell. what the heck is church for if not to teach from the holy scriptures? What about the freedom of speech there??? last i checked it was NOT conditional. I can't turn on the tv with out hearing obscenities in the programs, or turn on the radio and listen to news shows or music without it, and what about commentaries, or just over hearing a conversation at the mall with out being embarresed. I know i am old fashioned but gee, silly me, i thought the good ole US of A was a place for the freedom of worshiping how we choose WITHOUT being discriminated. If people want to marry whom they choose, that's their choice and that's fine, but if it's going to take away my rights as a parent, or to exercise my rights as a citizen, then i'm sorry. we will have to go back to the drawing board to come up with another solution to appease both parties. One of the reasons i am posting this now, is that there are several threats and accusations being thrown at the church i and my family are a apart of,and again, i say this with a lot of apprehention, but I feel that people need to take another look at this. "Mormons" as we have been nicknamed, are NOT hateful towards gay people. in fact there are numerous amounts of people in the church who are gay, and EVEN attend the temple. They are able to do this because even though they have these feelings, they do NOT act on them. It is self control. The same for alcholics. I'd venture to say that there are Lots of alcoholics in the church as well, who also attend the temple, and are worthy to do so because they choose NOT to act on their desires which are contrary to the teachings of the scriptures and the gospel. We love all people (though i could name a few that I personally am not too fond off;)( just a little light humor there), regardless of their orientation, color, job, whatever... Our Heavenly Father is just like any other kind and loving parent you know. He loves us no matter what we do, but may be dissapointed in the choices we make. Again, I am not looking for an arguement, i just wanted a chance to explain a few things and voice my opinion. Please don't leave mean comments, but I DO encourage people to leave thoughts, maybe questions that others may be able to answer.

And the Results are IN!

so i had my surgery on monday. joane loden came over and spent the day/night/and day again with our kids (poor joane, i think she's traumitized...;) so we had no worries! anyways, when i woke up, all i could say was my belly button hurt... which it REALLY REALLY DOES still! but anyways, robin stayed with brad and me and was such a big help. but i didn't have any funny things happen... a little dissapointing, brad even brought the camera in hopes that we would catch some great material. but alas, nothing happened other than a low fever and issues with really low blood pressure, and the occasional naseua. i did loose it a bit, but by morning we were doing better (no morphine for me, i've learned my lesson now!) so anyways, i'm just really sore from the insicions ...BUT!!! and this is HUGE, my gallbladder pain is GONE! i love it! i have a few stones that the dr gave me to keep, but he said my gallbladder was packed FULL! so, now it's gone, and sarahbeth and tj are so funny about it. they're not allowed to touch me except for my hand because they can be a little rough without meaning too. and sb will say things like, i don't want a gallbladder, and then tells the story of how mine stopped working because i was eating rocks... hmmm, we'll have to work on that. anyways, i will post pictures soon! thanks friends for all your help and support!

Bad Parenting...

hmmm, possible economic debt solution? i'm in!

So my friend, leigh, posted this from someone she knows. and frankly, i quite agree. although i haven't personally checked/verified all the numbers, it sounds like a good plan to me! (and i'm not really sure where the 85 billion comes in either, but hey, it's still pretty good;)

  • Birk Economic Recovery PLan Hi Pals,I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

  • Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.

  • To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bon-a-fide U.S. Citizens 18+.Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up...
  • So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
  • What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.Repay college loans - what a great boost to new gradsPut away money for college - it'll be thereSave in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.Buy a new car - create jobsInvest in the market - capital drives growthPay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improvesEnable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else
  • Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
  • If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
  • If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
  • As for AIG - liquidate it.Sell off its parts.Let American General go back to being American General.Sell off the real estate.Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom?I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion 'We Deserve It Dividend' more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.Kindest personal regards,BirkT. What's the Gallbladder's favorite band?

THE ROLLING STONES of course! HAHAHAHAHA. Have you heard any good gallbladder jokes lately? here's a few...

  1. q. What did the liver say after the gallbladder was removed?

You think the gallbladder was painful? Try a little separation anxiety.

...

Or, how about…

Where does the liver go on vacation?a. The Bile River.

Ok, so if you haven't put it together yet, i'm having some issues with me good ole friend, the gallbladder. for the last few weeks i have had bad stomach aches along with not so friendly back aches... didn't think the two were related until a friend pointed it out and mentioned it might be my gall bladder. WELL, she happened to be right, and now, a nice big fat deductible later i am schelduled to have my gall bladder removed october 20th. hip hip hooray right???? i think? we'll see. so i have several really great friends and a terriffic ward to help with the kiddos and such for a couple weeks after. so we shall see how this all turns out. if anyone has any stories and/or advice, i'd say BRING IT ON!

A Little Help HERE???

does anyone know why i can't publish my posts in paragraphs?????

I HAVE the GREATEST friends!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and thoughtful comments. My mom and sister ended up going up to vegas from phx and after some crankiness and misunderstandings, everyone is in good standing with everyone else, needless to say, i did Not brave an expensive plane ride to sin city with a baby with an ear infection. we just felt it would probably be better and easier this way. i appreciated the advice of going at a later time to help with cleaning things out (thanks cheyenne ...i think?) anyways, not much else is going on here. ... Kempton is now 7 months, wieghing in at 15 lbs 6 oz, and 27 3/4 inches tall.. he's our tall n' skinny boy! which makes the hand-me-downs from tj a little funny, and VERY loose! tj was more on the short and stout end. In fact, because Kempton IS so tall, it's hard to snap his onsies, and so last night he somehow got out of his onsie, AND his POOPIE diaper, and it got allllllllllllll over his play pen (he sleeps here at night in the other room until i can trust sb and tj with him in the mornings). ... SOOOOO, lets just say that we are very glad that TODAY was trash day! YUCK! Kempton updates: way past the crawling, standing and turning while walking a long the furniture... and I SWEAR, annalie will back me up, he said "MAMA" while reaching for me! he really is a fun baby. He likes to be moving, won't sit still for anything but cheerios. will eat baby food, but prefers to feed himself, LOVES yogurt and fruits! not so happy about veggies.... (brad's son!) Alright, sorry i haven't put pictures up, i'm having some, uhm issues, we'll just call them issues. OH YES, and the little lambs sale was today (for all those not in alabama, it's a semi annual children's consignment sale) and i have to say, slim pickin's for the prices... oh don't get me wrong, plenty of wonderful things, but i'm not paying $12.00 for a pair of second hand pants! RIDICULOUS!

Sad Day

  • My Uncle passed away today. He had an agressive form of lymphoma, and i'm not sure really how i feel about it. of course i'm upset, and when my mom called me, tj had just had a stinky accident in his "BIG BOY" underwear (yes, we are potty training!) so i immediatly ran into the bedroom where brad was and was crying (which made brad extreemly concerned) and said tj just had an accident, so in a way it was a little funny. We weren't extreemly close, but i do love him and am so greatful for having known him and remembering all the different experiences and times we had to visit together. i know my mom always looked up to him with love, respect and admiration, and because of that, i do too.

  • But this is my concern, my uncle wasn't extreemly religious and his family are pretty reserved, which is just fine, but sometimes it makes it a little hard to be close to them. Anyways, they are not doing any sort of service, just a "gathering." and my aunt was suprised to hear that my mom (my uncles sister of course) and my sister and i wanted to go and pay our respects. So out of my respect for their wishes, i will not be going, (i have to admit i am a little relieved since i'd have to fly out with kempton and arrange for the other 2 while brad is at school and work), but my mom and especially my sister are pretty hurt by this. is this odd? does anyone have any suggestions on how one might help and be supportive from afar for both sides?
  • on an even more depressing note... (don't read if you want to stay happy i guess) how sad is it that now my mom is the sole living member of her immediate family. my grandfather was married 2 times, and with my grandma had my uncle tom (who passed away in feb of 06 due to cancer), my uncle jamie (who passed away today of cancer) and then my mom. my grandmother passed in 1981, and my grandpa in 1986. She has a great older half brother (uncle mike) and 2 half sisters. but it still isn't the same. there is no longer anyone to share the intimate memories with anymore, and it scares me that since they have all passed away so young, and from cancer, will i still have my mom around in a couple of years. i know that a lot of people loose a parent at a young age. even brad lost his dad when he was 19. but i honestly don't know what i would do without my mom. we talk normally at least once a day, if there are no crisies going on, and i'm pretty sure my sister would fall apart as well. not really any more thought to that, but just needed to get it out at this point.

What NOT to Wear

Tj has this thing about ALWAYS having some type of clothes on... except when he sleeps, (which is another post in and of itself;) anyways, we've been working on potty training and I try and keep just his underwear on with a shirt. it just seems easier, and less laundry to do when accidents happen. but tj doesn't see it that way... I just hope he always stays this modest! so he couldn't find any of his shorts, and finally he came out with these on looking for a shirt. it tooke me a minute but i quickly realized those shorts were kempton's! What a silly boy... they DID fit okay though, but a little too bunchy in the front area!

Where oh Where are my little kids?

SO Lately before we go to bed one of us will check on the kids, take sb potty, tuck them in, ect ect ect... (well, we do that anyways) but lately this has been what we find....
...
we open the door, and where are the kids??
They're NOT in their beds!
They're NOT in the closet...
They're not behind the door! Where are they? They're on the FLOOR!
So now I wonder why we even have beds??? would it be so wt if we just got rid of the beds?

Okay, so it's been a long time coming. Kempton is actually almost 7 months old, but here's a recap of everything from 5 months on.

  • actually puts himself into a sitting position (end of 5 months)
  • really FOR TRUE crawling, not just the creeping he's been doing since 4 months (end of 5 months)
  • Pulling up on the furniture/people, starting exactly on his 6 months day
  • In the last week (6.5 months) walking along the furniture!!!
  • and last night 9/5/08, he started to think he could let go of the furniture and stand by himself... which he can't. he just falls on his face... it's so sad to watch. but he's learning super fast.
Below are a few video clips. one of when he first started to REAL crawl, one of him when he saw his reflection in the window and thought he had a new friend (actually a couple of those ones ;) and one of him pulling up on the couch! my how time flies!

Master TJ

Tj put on some of brads gloves and, well, see for yourselves.

Happy 4th!

For the week of the 4th, we got to have all the cousins over and hang out! it was soooo much fun! on that friday that was actually the 4th, we had our friends the neves' over for some yummy food and fireworks. These are ben's appendages lighting the tanks that will shoot at eachother. we have a video of them at the bottom of the post.

Some pictures of all the kids, Billie (8), Max (6), Sarahbeth (4), Jordan (3), TJ (2) and Kempton (4 months at time of pic), and Jamison (almost 4) and Natalie (2) neve. Max was hammin' it up for the camera!
I love this particular video clip... Dancing infront of the strobe fireworks!
Those tanks i was talkin' bout.

I know the fourth is really about more than just potato salad, bbq and fun fireworks, and so for all the many freedoms and blessings i and my family enjoy, i want to say thanks to those who have sacrificed time, thought, energy, service, and even life for our country. God Bless America!

  • This time, we will be doing a dip night/recipe exchange. That means make and bring your favorite dip and whatever the heck goes with it, ei chips and dip/veggies or fruit and dip/WHATEVER! Just make sure you bring the recipe written on an index card on one side, THEN on the OTHER side, write a little bit about yourself, like a little auto biography. THEN, make sure you bring some of your favorite cookbooks and some post-it-notes to stick to the recipe's of other's cook books. then what you will do is take home your books and make copies for whoever wanted one out of your books, and then bring them to church or the library or playgroup and everyone else will do the same. any questions???
  • while we're searching for new meals, we can gab and watch a movie, so bring a favorite and we can choose from there, OR make suggestions and i can get it from netflix! any questions now???

Brad's birthday

June has come and gone soquickly, but i just wanted to recap. June 5th was brad's 28th birthday, and to celebrate we went to nana rabbits and she made a wonderfully delicious lunch. and then made some angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries, brad's favorite! then we went swimming and had all sorts of fun with that!

This is the cake that the kids and i made brad... mmmmmm. its even better the next day when the oreos have softened up a bit. our suggestion, let it air out a little bit, then put some cake in a bowl, top with a couple scoops of ice cream, then microwave for about 15 seconds... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
yes, well, we like it at least.
